I wonder if there is an extra task force called “Break Google Services” on their development team. [via GWB]

wonder why people install beta software and then argue about strange behaviour… :/

Does Safari on Windows do any better now??
Google Maps is working on at least 3 different browser engines – IE7, Gecko, Webkit – flawlessly. Therefore I find it strange that it’s totally messed up in IE8 Beta 1. I mean, the screenshot above doesn’t just show a minor bug…
http://rolfm.wordpress.com rolf
this could also mean that the IE team decided to code the rendering engine from scratch…
i’m sure google apps will work in the final release.
A few of the popular mapping API’s aren’t working in IE8. A reliable source tells me it’s due to a bug with overflow:hidden in IE8. I’m sure it will be fixed.

I use google maps frequently. I am perturbed that google maps wlll
not work with IE 8 Beta 1. Does anyone know how to contact the folks
at Internet Explorer Development and Google so that a fix for this problem can be found in a hurry?

You want Microsoft to hurry up and fix an issue for beta software?
The fix is: uninstall it. You’re beta testing, not using it for real work. After that, you can wait for beta 2 like the rest of us.
It’s not like to you know it was “a developer preview for web designers and developers to help prepare their websites for the launch of Internet Explorer 8.”
Unless of course you’re google, in which case you can prepare google maps for the launch of ie8.

Have you taken a look at Virtual Earth, (it compares well with Google Earth), but gets overlooked.
Hey all u people worked about google maps not displaying properly on ur webpages here is a SOLUTION…
TRY REMOVING THE DOCTYPE FRO YOUR PAGE AND CHECK OUT.
I had the same problem, the entire just blewup and made life miserable, it was important for me to have the map, so i switched to yahoo maps, and there too i had a problem, not that the map blew up but it did not appear at all, so just tried getting rid of doctype and it worked.Going back to google maps without the doctype that too worked.

Click the Emulate IE7 button and restart IE. Gmail will work when IE7 is emulated, but not Google maps… So far, google maps is working on safari and firefox 3 on my comp, which is a windows xp…
Dan
Google maps will work if you go to tools>DeveloperTools> once that is open click on the HTML tag then go to view then change to strict IE7

To correct this problem, just download the newest Beta (as of this writing it’s Beta 2) and install. You’ll have to uninstall IE8B1 first (and then reboot), but all seems to be fixed in Beta 2. That, and the new feature set is GREAT!
