More registrations

Yet another reason why I’d wish OpenID to take off and being applied by some big players:

On March 15th we’ll be discontinuing the old email-based Flickr sign in system. From that point on, everyone will have to use a Yahoo! ID to sign in to Flickr.

So, until 15th of March I have to get a Yahoo! ID in order to use my (paid) Flickr account any longer. I hardly can keep track of my existing registrations and tons of user accounts across the internet already.

I got the same I e-mail :( Not only I already have 100s accounts over the internet, I also don’t want to become a Yahoo member! The aggresive advertising of other Yahoo! product is the thing I do not like about them.

It just doesn’t make sense for me as user registering for the same service twice while nothing will change on my side, as they say in their email. Obviously there is no benefit for users, only for Yahoo!, win-loose situation I’d say. So I’m going to create a Yahoo! account with a Gmail-address…
