Thats crazy, I was on a flight to Russia and they were running out of tomato juice. Ive never seen so many people drink it, so I thought it was the Russians and their love of this juice. I guess not huh?

Ginger ale and tomato juice are the only beverages I order in-flight. I've long pondered why that is, and how it doesn't appear I'm alone in this phenomenon. For the tomato juice, it was just a sudden, "hmmm... I'd like soemthing simultaneously salty, quenching, and filling." Tomato Juice just made since, and I've been ordering it ever since. However, I typically only ever order it if there is sunlight flooding the cabin. For night flights, it's always ginger ale. For some reason, cola everages just turn me off in-flight. Is it the notion of caffeine? I used to get Sprite, but somewhere along the way, I switched to ginger ale, and I've never gone back. I think maybe the Sprite is too carbonated for my comfort when flying. And the ginger ale has a subtler flavour. Sweeter than Sprite (no lime or lemon) but not as sweet as cola. Something about that appeals to me when fliying, but I can't explain why.

Apparently there is a study that shows that tomato juice has mild blood-thinning properties and that it is a natural craving while in-flight to avoid DVTs. Interesting for sure!

For me it is Ginger Ale. I never drink Ginger Ale on the ground, but I always drink it on the plane (each leg, no matter how many legs I travel in a day).
